Karesuando is Sweden?s northernmost populated area. It is located in a tundra landscape near to Muonio River, forming the border between Sweden and Finland. This community has approximately 300 permanent inhabitants and lies 210 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, at the same latitude as the middle of Greenland and northern Canada.
