In Sarek, Mihkajiegna belongs to those glaciers that have greatly diminished in the last hundred years. The front of the glacier has shrunk 1.5 kilometres. In total, Swedish glaciers today have a surface area and volume that is about equivalent to the amount of water in Torneträsk.
